Foreign Students at the Beach

While walking on the beach I met six foreign exchange students from Taiwan.  They were taking a break from volleyball,  so I asked them a few questions about their experience in the U.S.

They were having a wonderful time and seemed happy to meet another friendly American. All six gathered around me with big smiles, eager to practice their English.

We talked a few minutes before I asked them if they followed a religion.
Perhaps they didn’t understand me, because they all said, “No.”
I asked if they were Buddhists. They said “No.”
“Are you Taoists?” They said “No.”

Then one of them made a cross with his fingers.

I asked, “You are Christians? You follow Jesus?”

They all smiled excitedly saying, “Yes! Yes!”

They seemed THRILLED to know that I was a Christian too.  I reached into my big pocket and pulled out a bunch of Christian comic book tracts.  They started reading them aloud and were so excited!  They asked if I had more so they could share them with friends!        I did!  What joy! What fun!

“Thank You Lord, for another opportunity to share Your love.”

  •  But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8

About Kathleen

God delights in working through His people as they submit to Him. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone (Mark 16:15). No matter where we live on this planet, people are separated from God because of sin. We ALL need a Savior, and there’s only ONE. It brings me great joy to share Christ with the lost and lonely. Over the years I’ve learned a great deal while facilitating Bible studies. I’ve found myself on college and university campuses, the beach, the streets, the hospital, the jail and the juvenile facility for incarcerated teens sharing God’s message of love. I also serve as an online missionary with Global Media Outreach. I’ve seen countless lives transformed when people turn away from sin and turn to Jesus. The changes God makes are real and lasting. These are some of my experiences. NOTE: My stories have been altered, removing any and all identifying factors. Dear Kathleen,
This was thrilling. We have not met that many believers all at once. The ocean
must have also responded, “God is a multiplier!” Goldie Shaw

Often I assume that because someone is a foreigner they probably belong to the faith common to their region. How wonderful to hear that they were all Christians! It is quite amazing!

  8. Frank King says:

Praise God; America has no exclusive rights to Christianity. God is at work everywhere.
