A Man is Following Us!

I was walking in the mall with my friend Jenny, when she alerted me that a man was following us.

We kept walking and after a while she said, “He’s still behind us. Let’s duck into the next store and lose him.”

We did.  He followed.  Wherever we went he was close behind.

Then Jenny said, “Uh oh! He’s right behind you and he’s unzipping his pants.”

I turned around and said in the strongest  voice I could muster: “You zip up your pants right now!  What you are doing is evil!”

“Yes ma’am, Yes ma’am,” as he zipped up his pants.

“You should get down on your knees and ask Jesus to forgive you—RIGHT NOW!”

I was shocked as he dropped to his knees and lowered his head!

Suddenly a policeman rushed in and handcuffed him.  A sales clerk had noticed him stalking us and called 911.

Jenny was aghast at my action.  Truthfully, no one was more shocked than I!  Where did I get such boldness?

“Thank You Lord, for giving me Your words and Your protection.  Please bring that needy man to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.”

About Kathleen

God delights in working through His people as they submit to Him. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone (Mark 16:15).

No matter where we live on this planet, people are separated from God because of sin. We ALL need a Savior, and there’s only ONE.

It brings me great joy to share Christ with the lost and lonely. Over the years I’ve learned a great deal while facilitating Bible studies. I’ve found myself on college and university campuses, the beach, the streets, the hospital, the jail and the juvenile facility for incarcerated teens sharing God’s message of love. I also serve as an online missionary with Global Media Outreach. I’ve seen countless lives transformed when people turn away from sin and turn to Jesus. The changes God makes are real and lasting. These are some of my experiences.

Good going Kathleen. That impromptu response must have come through the Holy Spirit. Flesh doesn’t talk like that. Also, the way the man responded to your rebuke suggests this was God working through you. Praise Him!

I agree, Frank. My impromptu response must have come through the Holy Spirit–because it was so unlike me! I too believe God was in this. Praise Him!

  2. Mark says:

very good response to a potentially dangerous situation! I think that might have been the first and most important step in that man’s salvation….so much the better for you that it happened in public and not some dark alley – God does walk with you!

Wow! What would I have done? I would have let him follow me into the Police Storefront, if it happened at our local Mall. Barring no such service available I would have approached a checker and asked her to call the police or the security personnel at the Mall, or whipped out a cell phone (if I had one) and called 911 myself…maybe. In reality, no one really can predict what they would do in such and such a situation, not knowing the variables. But, certainly, God was empowering you and watching over you. I doubt the officer would have allowed you to talk with him, though. When an officer makes an arrest like that he needs to be in control, and remove the perpetrator from the environment as quickly as possible, because the condition of this man was really unknown…were there drugs involved, etc.

I do believe God gave you a spirit of courage and boldness. I can not imagine doing what you did, but I wish I would. Your articles do lift the spirit and bring out a cheer in me for the Lord. He is always the winner against evil.

  5. Kathleen says:

Thank you! I so agree! God is good.

That was an amazing story. God gave you boldness. Reading your stories helps me to have more boldness too. Bless you, Amy
