Pastor: “You Changed My Life”

I was invited to speak at three different church fellowships in another city.    A year later I was invited back. A pastor from yet another church approached me.  I was astounded by his words:

“I want to thank you.  Last year I heard you speak and it changed my life.”

“Oh?  How so?”

“I had never considered going out and sharing my faith as you do.  After hearing your message, I invited some of our people to do the same.  We went to a park, set up a table and began giving out free Bibles and tracts. People would stop to talk and ask for prayer. It has strengthened my faith and the faith of our church. Peoples’ lives have been changed and our new ministry has brought great joy.

Wow! What can be more humbling, coming from a pastor! Humbling for him and even more humbling for me.  I am nothing on my own.  I am simply a follower of Christ trying to be obedient.  How grateful I am to God that He would use me to impact another in this way.

About Kathleen

God delights in working through His people as they submit to Him. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone (Mark 16:15). No matter where we live on this planet, people are separated from God because of sin. We ALL need a Savior, and there’s only ONE. It brings me great joy to share Christ with the lost and lonely. Over the years I’ve learned a great deal while facilitating Bible studies. I’ve found myself on college and university campuses, the beach, the streets, the hospital, the jail and the juvenile facility for incarcerated teens sharing God’s message of love. I also serve as an online missionary with Global Media Outreach. I’ve seen countless lives transformed when people turn away from sin and turn to Jesus. The changes God makes are real and lasting. These are some of my experiences. NOTE: My stories have been altered, removing any and all identifying factors. The Great Commission. We are all called to share our faith and true, we are nothing on our own, but God is there with us and He is the one that gives us our strength. I like gospel tracts, they can be nice conversation starters. I made a list of places that give free gospel tracts or even Gospel of Johns so you can hand them out yourself as you are out and about and even suggested ideas and places to use and place Gospel Tracts. God bless and thanks for sharing this blog post. God Bless.

You have blessed and touched and changed many lives dear Kathleen and mine is one of them.

  3. Mel says:

Your POST Kathleen reminded me of a quote from an unknown author: “You’ve changed my life from a distance, imagine what you can do if your were just a bit closer.”
LIFESTYLE EVANGELISM describes itself. We don’t go out to witness, we witness as we go. That said, can we imagine what an impact we could be if we “just got a bit closer” to those around us?

    • Kathleen says:

You are absolutely correct, Mel. But I have also experienced that when we go out with an intentional purpose to do witnessing much is accomplished. We go as a team and we are covered in prayer. The Holy Spirit goes before us and prepares hearts. Love and kindness is expressed and received. We return with joy. It is a precious experience.

Thanks for your commitment to living the truth and being an example of serving the Lord! I think that kind of witness is stronger and more attractive than most sermons! Bless you!

The pastor’s statement, “… never considered going out and sharing my faith …,” I believe it is true of many pastors. How infrequently do we hear a pastor’s testimony of his individual sharing the Gospel. Anytime I hear a sermon in which an appeal is made to witness, if the pastor does not mention his own experience, I confront him with my doubt regarding his own commitment.
Thank you for being a good teacher of this subject.

Finish strong Kathleen, the end is near!!! Well done thy good and faithful servant!!

  7. Frank King says:

Kathleen, I am sure you have touched the lives of countless others through you obedience to share your faith as you do. I continue to be impressed by your passion in that regard. I remember teaching and mobilizing my congregation to take to the streets and share their faith. This was in 1989. They were very uncomfortable at first. After the first few outings , we had to stop and do some role-playing to address some of the things they encountered. With time, the ministry grew on them. This became one of our most exciting ministries.

    • Kath says:

Thank you Frank. I am happy to hear that you too have taken your congregation to the streets to share Christ. I know of no other church/pastor in our community who does the same. I’m encouraged.
