Jesus Is Your Lord? NOT!

A 21-year-old stopped at our Bible table at the beach. He said he made Jesus his Lord and Savior two years ago, but he stopped reading the Bible and going to church because he felt he would be a hypocrite when he fornicated or smoked weed.

I said, “Jesus is NOT your Lord if you are continuing in your sin.  When a person gives his life to Jesus he changes. The Holy Spirit comes into his life and gives him the desire to please God and the power to obey God. You don’t seem to have the desire OR the power.”

He said he wanted to recommit his life “for real.” He said he felt God led him to our table for a reason. He needs God in his life and he wants to turn away from his sin.  We prayed with him, that the Holy Spirit would fill and empower him.

He seemed humbled and appreciative.  He promised to return to church, and we sent him on his way with a new Bible.  Please pray for “J” that he can get into a men’s accountability group to help him stay strong.

About Kathleen

God delights in working through His people as they submit to Him. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone (Mark 16:15). No matter where we live on this planet, people are separated from God because of sin. We ALL need a Savior, and there’s only ONE. It brings me great joy to share Christ with the lost and lonely. Over the years I’ve learned a great deal while facilitating Bible studies. I’ve found myself on college and university campuses, the beach, the streets, the hospital, the jail and the juvenile facility for incarcerated teens sharing God’s message of love. I also serve as an online missionary with Global Media Outreach. I’ve seen countless lives transformed when people turn away from sin and turn to Jesus. The changes God makes are real and lasting. These are some of my experiences. NOTE: My stories have been altered, removing any and all identifying factors. “J” will be in my prayers – there’s nothing greater than God’s love and seeing people led to Christ!

  2. Laure K. says:

Thank you for caring more about “J’s” eternal soul than whether or not his feelings might be bruised by your truthful statement,”Jesus is NOT your Lord if you are continuing in your sin. When a person gives his life to Jesus he changes. The Holy Spirit comes into his life and gives him the desire to please God and the power to obey God. You don’t seem to have the desire OR the power.”

I pray those words reverberate in his thinking.

  7. Helene says:

We are not strong enough in and of ourselves to fight the flesh and the devil. Praise God, Jesus has overcome, and in His name and the power of the Holy Spirit, with the help of godly brothers and sisters, we can also be overcomers.

  8. Frank King says:

Love those encounters for the Kingdom you have on the beach. Some, perhaps many, believers focus on Christ the Savior but are numb to the reality of Christ as Lord. To be our Savior, we must let Him be Lord also.
