Walk & Witness

I invited my friend Shari to join me to walk and witness down by the pier.   We met on the beach promenade, tracts in hand and the smell of ocean in the air.

The first thing we did was pray that God would give us His wisdom and words,  that He would anoint us with His Holy Spirit and prepare the hearts of those with whom He would have us talk.

As we’d pass a walker we’d hold out a tract and say, “May I share some good news with you?”  The tract was quickly grabbed up with a “Thank you” and we’d keep walking.  If they looked questioning, we’d add, “It’s about Jesus.”

One guy looked at it, stopped and said, “I’m an alcoholic, but Jesus is helping me.”  We talked with him a bit and asked if he knew about Celebrate Recovery.  He did and was attending meetings regularly. We asked if we could pray with him and he appreciated it.

A man on the pier was fishing. He said his wife is a Christian and is bugging him to go to church, perhaps a tract would be good for him. He explained that he was already a believer,  just didn’t have time for church. We talked with him about the importance of growing in his faith and encouraged him in his marriage. Then we prayed for him and he thanked us.

Two 20 something guys were shirtless and sporting large tattoos.  One tat was brightly colored. “Wow!” I said. “Such a colorful tat!  There must be a story behind it!”  They both had stories and were eager to talk. Both had been raised Catholic but had drifted away.  They were interested in reading several of our tracts, especially the one that invites Catholics to think about what they are trusting.

An Hispanic woman was watching her twins enjoy the beach.  She was Catholic, but said her older children attended Christian churches and seemed mature in their faith.  She liked what she saw in them.  She was happy to receive our Jesus Movie in Spanish, also several tracts. We gave her two recommendations of good Christian churches in her community that also have Spanish services.  She was appreciative.

Two hours later our tracts were gone. Before heading home we stopped to thank God for the wonderful morning of numerous encounters He directed us to.  Profitable for them–and a joy for us.

About Kathleen

God delights in working through His people as they submit to Him. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone (Mark 16:15). No matter where we live on this planet, people are separated from God because of sin. We ALL need a Savior, and there’s only ONE. It brings me great joy to share Christ with the lost and lonely. Over the years I’ve learned a great deal while facilitating Bible studies. I’ve found myself on college and university campuses, the beach, the streets, the hospital, the jail and the juvenile facility for incarcerated teens sharing God’s message of love. I also serve as an online missionary with Global Media Outreach. I’ve seen countless lives transformed when people turn away from sin and turn to Jesus. The changes God makes are real and lasting. These are some of my experiences. NOTE: My stories have been altered, removing any and all identifying factors.
