Years ago when I gave my life to Jesus, His Holy Spirit came to indwell me, and then started changing me.
I still remember that initial peace, joy and love. Yet there were changes as well. When God wanted me to change something in my life, He did not speak audibly, but still I distinctly heard Him.
I had been a follower of Jesus for just a few weeks when long-time friends came to visit. I began telling them about my new life—how Christ had changed me. While I was telling them about Jesus, I was mixing vodka drinks!
I distinctly remember handing drinks to our friends while experiencing God speaking to me and saying “Others may, but you may not.”
It was clearly from God. It was not audible, yet I knew He was speaking to my inner being. I knew it, I felt it, and I never did it again.
- For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. Titus 2:11-13
