Please Hug Them

I cannot remember a time of more universal tragedy and confusion as in the past 12 months. Nor do I see its end in sight!

As an online missionary with Global Media Outreach,  I receive daily emails from people worldwide who are suffering and desperate.  My heart breaks for them.  Then we read about fellow believers in prison for their faith, some are tortured and killed.  How can we help?

I believe it’s time for the followers of Jesus to seriously fast and pray.  In Esther 4:16 the people were asked to pray and fast from food AND water, for three days and nights! How difficult that would be!  Truthfully, I’m more of a prayer wimp than a prayer warrior. But the daily news challenges me to strive to become obedient to God’s call to pray.

Moreover, many of us can also give.  I prefer supporting member organizations of ECFA, the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability.    Here are a few worthwhile ministries–and there are many more:

Liana Wendy Howarth at https:/ /poetrycottage.wordpress.com/  is a poet/songwriter who resides in Australia.  She asked if I would put music to some of her work. Here is one I recorded that focuses on praying for those in extreme hardship.

Listen to PLEASE HUG THEM:

  • Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.        Esther 4:16
  • And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.  Ephesians 6:18

About Kathleen

God delights in working through His people as they submit to Him. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone (Mark 16:15). No matter where we live on this planet, people are separated from God because of sin. We ALL need a Savior, and there’s only ONE. It brings me great joy to share Christ with the lost and lonely. Over the years I’ve learned a great deal while facilitating Bible studies. I’ve found myself on college and university campuses, the beach, the streets, the hospital, the jail and the juvenile facility for incarcerated teens sharing God’s message of love. I also serve as an online missionary with Global Media Outreach. I’ve seen countless lives transformed when people turn away from sin and turn to Jesus. The changes God makes are real and lasting. These are some of my experiences. NOTE: My stories have been altered, removing any and all identifying factors. This includes names and other particulars in order to protect confidentiality and anonymity.
