It was February 13 and my husband Dan and I were traveling. He dropped me off while he went to park the car. While waiting I noticed a young woman walking toward me. She looked as if she’d been crying and on the verge of tears again.
Our eyes met and I said, “Are you all right?”
She shook her head and said, “No.”
“I only have a minute, but do you want to talk about it?”
“I just told my boyfriend I’m pregnant and he told me to get an abortion. I don’t know what to do! I cannot kill my baby!”
“I’m so sorry. But I think you’ve already made a good decision—not to abort your baby. Do you know Jesus?”
“No.”
“If you were to die today do you know where you would go?”
“Probably heaven. I’ve been a good person.”
“I’m sure you are a good person. But the Bible tells us nobody is good enough! We are all sinners and we all need a Savior. That’s why Jesus came—so He could save us. Would you like me to pray for you?”
“Oh, I would! Please!”
Placing my hand on her shoulder, I prayed that God would protect her baby and give her the guidance and wisdom she needs. I prayed she would come to know the Lord Jesus and experience His love and peace.
Then I said, “Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day and I have a Valentine for you! Would you like that?”
She smiled, “Thank you. Maybe that will cheer me up.”
I said, “This Valentine is special. It not only tells you that you are loved, but it will show you how you can know Jesus as your Savior.”
By now Dan was standing nearby giving me the nod. I gave her a quick hug and said, “Listen. Jesus loves you. You are not alone. Okay?”
Later I had regrets that I didn’t think to refer her to the nearest County Pregnancy Resource Center where she would receive assistance and guidance. So I prayed, “Lord, please guide Tiffany to the nearest CPC. Give her a wise and loving counselor who knows You and will give her the support she needs. I ask this in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.”

Oh my! What a wonderful encounter! I know how it feels, though, to feel like an opportunity has been missed, yet God is faithful and I am sure He heard your prayer for her to find the help she needed. God is good.
Thanks Linda! Indeed, God is good and I’m trusting her to Him.
