Medical Community Reaches Out

Dr. Tim saw Marta in the Emergency Department. After hearing her sad story, he asked her to wait until he was off duty.  He then drove her to the food store.  She did her shopping and he paid.

Then he drove her home and was introduced to her two young daughters.  The three of them lived in a small studio apartment with no furniture. They slept on the floor.

The following evening Tim, who is the faculty adviser for the Christian Medical Student Association, shared with the med students Marta’s dire situation.

One student said, “My wife and I just bought a new bed.  Our old bed is still good. They are welcome to it.”  Another student said, “We have a sofa they can have.”  One more student said, “I have an extra chest of drawers.”  Another student said, “I have a truck.  Why don’t we load up the stuff now and drive it over!”  And they did.

A few days later Tim’s wife invited Marta and her daughters for dinner.  Tim’s daughters reached out to Marta’s girls and they became fast friends.

It seems Marta is not yet ready to come to church, but her daughters are!  Now on Sundays Tim’s family picks up Marta’s daughters and brings them to church and Sunday school. The girls love Jesus and are growing in their faith.

About Kathleen

God delights in working through His people as they submit to Him. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone (Mark 16:15). No matter where we live on this planet, people are separated from God because of sin. We ALL need a Savior, and there’s only ONE. It brings me great joy to share Christ with the lost and lonely. Over the years I’ve learned a great deal while facilitating Bible studies. I’ve found myself on college and university campuses, the beach, the streets, the hospital, the jail and the juvenile facility for incarcerated teens sharing God’s message of love. I also serve as an online missionary with Global Media Outreach. I’ve seen countless lives transformed when people turn away from sin and turn to Jesus. The changes God makes are real and lasting. These are some of my experiences. NOTE: My stories have been altered, removing any and all identifying factors.
