Christmas Caroling Downtown

Last Friday night the pastor, his wife and 28 friends from church met downtown. They prayed that God would go before them and prepare hearts. They had their song sheets in hand in hopes of doing some caroling in the many restaurants along Main Street.

The pastor went ahead of the group, entering each restaurant alone to ask permission from the manager.  Could he bring in a group of carolers to sing a couple of songs? Only one restaurant declined the offer because they were too busy.

Every other restaurant welcomed them.  As they began singing, many people stopped eating and joined in!   When they finished their caroling the group handed out DVDs of the Jesus Movie to any who wanted them. They also had little booklets with the gospel message they distributed freely.

The carolers were even welcomed into bars where the singing became lively.  In one bar two of the servers  began dancing!  It seemed the people didn’t want them to leave.  So the pastor spoke freely, asking aloud, “Does anyone here need a miracle?”  Hands went up.  He then prayed, knowing nothing is too big for God.  He prayed God would meet the needs of each person there.  More Jesus Movies were distributed before they moved onto the next venue.

They caroled for over two hours and left every restaurant rejoicing and praising God for a joyous blessing!  Seeds were planted in hundreds of lives!

What about you?  Have you considered Christmas Caroling for the Lord?  There’s still plenty of time before Christmas!

About Kathleen

God delights in working through His people as they submit to Him. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone (Mark 16:15). No matter where we live on this planet, people are separated from God because of sin. We ALL need a Savior, and there’s only ONE. It brings me great joy to share Christ with the lost and lonely. Over the years I’ve learned a great deal while facilitating Bible studies. I’ve found myself on college and university campuses, the beach, the streets, the hospital, the jail and the juvenile facility for incarcerated teens sharing God’s message of love. I also serve as an online missionary with Global Media Outreach. I’ve seen countless lives transformed when people turn away from sin and turn to Jesus. The changes God makes are real and lasting. These are some of my experiences. NOTE: My stories have been altered, removing any and all identifying factors. Kathleen, that was a very fruitful outing. People tend to like singing Christmas carols during this time of the year. To answer your question, I have never thought about doing something like that. Every year, December is an extremely busy ministry month for me because of Christmas. This year included going to the local jail to preach. I am happy to report that the inmates were very receptive to the gospel.

Happy to hear you spent some time sharing the gospel in your local jail. That is so very important! I too have found inmates receptive to God’s message. It seems when people hit bottom they are ready to look up. Merry Christmas to you!
