Gay Identity Confusion

Annie and Jason were two kids I loved and watched grow up. When they needed money I’d put them to work doing odd jobs. They loved my cooking. Perhaps it was because they were young that they’d always devour whatever I set before them.

One day when Jason was 13 he asked, “Do you think I’ll ever fall in love with a girl?”
I said, “Yes, someday it’ll happen.”
“But it hasn’t happened yet.”
“You’re still young, Jason. Give yourself time.”
“What if I’m gay?”
“You are not gay?”
“But what if I am?”
“If you are, then you go to God and ask Him to help you.  Once we surrender our lives to Jesus Christ, He gives us the desire to obey Him.  He also gives us the power to do the right thing. Your part is to obey God and to trust Him.”

One day when Annie was 16 she said, “I think I’m a lesbian.”
“What?  What makes you think you’re a lesbian?”
“Well, I’ve never had a boyfriend. The girls at school said I must be.  So I guess I am.”
“Annie, you are NOT a lesbian. You have never had a boyfriend because you are not ready for a boyfriend.  Someday when you are ready, God is going to send a young man into your life to be your husband—a man who shares your love for Jesus Christ.  Your part is to obey God, to wait on God and to trust God.  Don’t ever again think you are a lesbian.  You are not.”

Today they are both married to Christian spouses and raising up godly children.

What if there had been no Christian friend to talk with?   Some adults might say, “You’ll never know for sure unless you experiment.”  Kids today are confused.  Adults today are confused. Why?  It’s because they do not know the Word of God, nor the power of God in their lives.

About Kathleen

God delights in working through His people as they submit to Him. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone (Mark 16:15). No matter where we live on this planet, people are separated from God because of sin. We ALL need a Savior, and there’s only ONE. It brings me great joy to share Christ with the lost and lonely. Over the years I’ve learned a great deal while facilitating Bible studies. I’ve found myself on college and university campuses, the beach, the streets, the hospital, the jail and the juvenile facility for incarcerated teens sharing God’s message of love. I also serve as an online missionary with Global Media Outreach. I’ve seen countless lives transformed when people turn away from sin and turn to Jesus. The changes God makes are real and lasting. These are some of my experiences. NOTE: My stories have been altered, removing any and all identifying factors.
