Muslim Teen & the Occult

As an online missionary with Global Media Outreach,, I receive many emails from people in Muslim majority countries.

Susan, 16,  has written from the Middle East for over a year.  She’s had a fascination for vampire books and movies, witchcraft and the occult.  She’s asked questions about Satanism and Wicca.  I’ve warned her that these things are evil and she should have nothing to do with them.  She’d write back and say, “Don’t preach at me!”

Yet she kept writing and asking questions about the occult, esp. Satanism.  One day she wrote that she often sees a man dressed in black outside on the sidewalk.  He calls to her, but when she walks closer to him he disappears! This of course frightened her.

Later she wrote that the man in black was now coming to her in her dreams and shooting her with a gun.  She said, “I see the blood and I feel the pain. Every night I’m afraid to go to sleep because of the same nightmare.  I cannot tell my parents, they will think I’m crazy.”

I wrote, “These are demonic apparitions that are a result of you taking too great an interest in the occult.  You must stop NOW or it will get worse!  The only way you can be free of this is to call out on the name of Jesus.  You must be willing to surrender your life to Him. He will then forgive your sins, and He’ll send the Holy Spirit to live in you. At that time you will receive His peace, joy and love.  Those bad dreams will then disappear.”

She wrote, “I’m a Muslim and I cannot change my religion.  I want to slash my wrists and kill myself.  I hate my life and I hate the nightmares every night!”

I would pray and again write the same thing, “You don’t need to change your religion.  Muslims believe in Jesus too.  Just call on Jesus’ name.  His name is powerful.”  I then wrote out a prayer for her to say when she was afraid.

One day she wrote, “I did it two weeks ago!  I didn’t tell you because I wanted to wait and see if it was real.  It IS REAL!  Jesus is real!  I have peace!  The nightmares have stopped!  I don’t hear voices anymore or see that man in black.  I’m so happy!  I really do believe in Jesus!”

We’re now doing a Bible study together in the book of Mark.  I’m sending her a lesson every other day and she’s growing in the Lord.

About Kathleen

God delights in working through His people as they submit to Him. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone (Mark 16:15). No matter where we live on this planet, people are separated from God because of sin. We ALL need a Savior, and there’s only ONE. It brings me great joy to share Christ with the lost and lonely. Over the years I’ve learned a great deal while facilitating Bible studies. I’ve found myself on college and university campuses, the beach, the streets, the hospital, the jail and the juvenile facility for incarcerated teens sharing God’s message of love. I also serve as an online missionary with Global Media Outreach. I’ve seen countless lives transformed when people turn away from sin and turn to Jesus. The changes God makes are real and lasting. These are some of my experiences. NOTE: My stories have been altered, removing any and all identifying factors. Wow! Another example of the power of His Name, and His Spirit. It was so great to read of her deliverance from the evil one!

This is a great witness of how God delivers us from Satan’s attempts to control us. When I was in my 30’s Satan tried to get to me with demonic visions. I was awake and saw a rabid raccoon in my closet, then I felt it walking on my bed. I could literally feel its tiny feet as it walked from the foot of the bed to the top of it. I called, “Jesus save me” but nothing happened. I finally told our pastor and he told me that Satan wouldn’t stay around if God was being praised. I started doing that and the reoccuring visions stopped. A year later they came back, but I remembered to praise God and they stopped and haven’t returned since. Praise God for deliverance! Thanks for telling this story.

There is amazing power in the name of Jesus.

  4. Frank K says:

Thank God for the matchless name of Jesus! All powers are subject to that name. In this post, you demonstrate how God can use us to reach people for the Kingdom with the simple but powerful gospel of Christ–if only we would make ourselves available.

  5. Kristi A says:

Wonderful testimony of the power in praising God! Thank you!

I must echo what others have said in their comments. Susan’s deliverance from the torment of the enemy is a great example of the matchless name of Jesus. Thank you for sharing this post. Those who think they are just playing around with the powers of darkness soon find out the enemy is not playing at all.
