Gina’s Story – God Provides!

Gina was laid off from her job of 12 years in March, 2020.   She writes, “After reviewing our home budget, I began searching for work right away, even though regular unemployment and the additional Covid unemployment money from the government were a blessing.  God provided!

“One perfect opportunity came up right away:  an administrative assistant position working for USA Surfing, which is the US Olympic Surfing Team. I am a surfer and I love the Olympics. What a perfect match! This must be from the Lord. I interviewed and was second in line for the position, but not first. That’s okay. God’s will be done. God will provide!

“Meanwhile, our granddaughter’s preschool closed due to the pandemic.  Since I wasn’t working I could be her main caregiver. What fun we had and my daughter was able to continue working.  God provides!

“In May while taking our granddaughter for a walk, I noticed a wealth management sign in a window and thought, ‘Hmm, I should call and see if they need office help.’  I did.  The owner’s daughter, his partner, said they would be needing help but not just yet.  She didn’t want me waiting around, but was interested.  I told her I would prayerfully keep looking, but felt the Lord was telling me to wait.  God will provide!

“By the end of summer the wealth management business let me know they had decided to hire another partner and wouldn’t be needing my help. However, they referred me to an engineer friend for a two-week transcribing assignment that started right about the time the extra government pandemic unemployment money ended. God provides!

“As soon as that assignment ended, the company where I had worked the last 12 years called me back. God provides!  A couple days into working back at my old company, I received an e-mail from the wealth management company.  Their new partner would not be coming to work with them after all. They would be needing help. ‘Would you be available for coffee sometime?’

“Oh, oh!  God, what are You doing? I just went back to work at my old company and I’m getting courted by the wealth management company?  I don’t understand. I will trust you.

“The daughter of the wealth management company came for an iced coffee on our ocean view patio where we quickly bonded.  We both decided we would like to work together but didn’t know what exactly that would look like since she wasn’t sure exactly when they would need me.  I didn’t want to renege on my commitment to my old company.  She respected my integrity.  If I did work for them it could lead to a more permanent position.  I could begin to learn the wealth management business and make that my career path as I go through the needed education with their guidance.  Before she left, I asked if we could pray together about this and she jumped right in leading the prayer.  God provides!

“I soon interviewed with the owner of the wealth management company as well as his daughter.  They loved me, I loved them and they offered me the job of Administrative Manager!  God provides!

“Meanwhile, I was expecting to continue working for my current employer until the current project ended–with the blessing from my new employer.  However, my current boss was so excited about this new opportunity for me, he gave his blessing for me to leave at the end of the week!  He promised if the new job didn’t work out, he would welcome me back.  God provides!

“Now I am in the process of training to manage a wealth management business and learning about financial planning.  I never dreamed I’d have a new career in my mid-50s.  I am so excited!   God provides!”

I just learned our granddaughter’s preschool is closing due to lack of enrollment after the Covid closure.  God will provide!

About Kathleen

God delights in working through His people as they submit to Him. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone (Mark 16:15). No matter where we live on this planet, people are separated from God because of sin. We ALL need a Savior, and there’s only ONE. It brings me great joy to share Christ with the lost and lonely. Over the years I’ve learned a great deal while facilitating Bible studies. I’ve found myself on college and university campuses, the beach, the streets, the hospital, the jail and the juvenile facility for incarcerated teens sharing God’s message of love. I also serve as an online missionary with Global Media Outreach. I’ve seen countless lives transformed when people turn away from sin and turn to Jesus. The changes God makes are real and lasting. These are some of my experiences. NOTE: My stories have been altered, removing any and all identifying factors.
