To Joy Behar: I Heard God Speak Too!

Recently,  Joy Behar from “The View” accused Vice president Mike Pence of “mental illness” because he says he hears from God.  “It’s one thing to talk to Jesus, it’s another thing when Jesus talks to you.  That’s called mental illness, if I’m not correct,” said Behar.

I’m sorry, Ms. Behar, but God does speak to His own.  He tells us in Jeremiah 33:3  “Call to me and I will answer you and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”

Most of the time God speaks to me when I’m reading His Word.  I may not hear His voice, but He clearly gives me direction and guidance.  There have also been times when I’ve actually heard God speak.  Let me share one experience:

I was in a difficult situation. Things were not going well.  I desperately needed God’s help. I knelt down by my bed and cried out to God. “Help me!  In the name of Jesus, help me!”  Throughout the day I would return to my knees.  Again calling to God, “Help me!  Please help me!  I can’t go through this!  I need Your help!”

Then I heard it – God’s voice.  It was not audible, but it was clear.  I heard each word distinctly as He spoke to my inner being.   He simply said, “I will help you, but you must do it.”

That was it.  I knew it was God reassuring me.  Tears began to flow.  I praised God. I thanked Him. I stood up and I knew that yes, I CAN do it!  Yes, I WILL do it!  God said He would help me.  So of course I can do it!

I walked away from my prayer closet refreshed.  Hope had been renewed.

  • My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.  I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.    Philippians 4:13
  • Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.   Jeremiah 29:12

About Kathleen

God delights in working through His people as they submit to Him. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone (Mark 16:15). No matter where we live on this planet, people are separated from God because of sin. We ALL need a Savior, and there’s only ONE. It brings me great joy to share Christ with the lost and lonely. Over the years I’ve learned a great deal while facilitating Bible studies. I’ve found myself on college and university campuses, the beach, the streets, the hospital, the jail and the juvenile facility for incarcerated teens sharing God’s message of love. I also serve as an online missionary with Global Media Outreach. I’ve seen countless lives transformed when people turn away from sin and turn to Jesus. The changes God makes are real and lasting. These are some of my experiences. NOTE: My stories have been altered, removing any and all identifying factors. So encouraging Kathleen. He never lets us down and has promised to never leave or forsake us. Such hope, we just don’t always see or feel it; but it’s always there in Christ Jesus, our blessed Saviour.

  2. David says:

Hi Kathleen, His promises are for REAL, how often HE is up in Heaven crying out to us. JUST ASK AND I WILL MEET ALL YOUR NEEDS! But we must understand that our heart has to be in the right place to hear his voice! .(Kathleen)I’m sure you hear HIM loud and clear.

I don’t always, David. But I’m sure I did that time. Thank you for stopping by! I appreciate you.

      • Mary Jo says:

From: 1 Kings 11-13 NIV (life application study Bible) “In a gentle whisper God spoke to Elijah.” . . he knew that the sound of the gentle whisper was God’s voice. He realized that God doesn’t reveal himself only in powerful miraculous ways. To look for God only in something big (rallies, churches, conferences, highly visible leaders) may be to miss him because he is often found gently whispering in the quietness of a humbled heart. Are you listening for God? Step back from the noise and activity of your busy life and listen humbly and quietly for his guidance. It may come when you least expect it.
