Beyond the Same-Sex Ruling

On June 26, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down all state bans on same-sex marriage, legalized it in all fifty states, and required states to honor out-of-state same-sex marriage licenses in the case Obergefell v. Hodges.

It was Friday night, a few hours after the Supreme Court ruling had been announced. The annual Father-Son Camp-out from a local church was underway.  Following dinner the guys gathered around the campfire with guitars and singing.  Soon the conversation turned to the news of the day.

The boys heard their dads uphold God’s design for marriage. The men shared from God’s Word and answered questions. The evening ended with the fathers leading in prayer for their wives and children. How reassuring for teenagers to hear their dads stand firmly on God’s truth.

There is great confusion in the world today, especially among the youth.  Many are questioning their sexual identity because they don’t know God’s Word and they don’t know right from wrong.  Many adults are mixed up as well!  One teenager asked his father, “How do I know if I’m gay?”  The father’s answer: “You’ll need to experiment to know for sure.”

A teenage girl had never had a boyfriend. The girls at school convinced her that she must be a lesbian. She went to her mother who said, “You have not had a boyfriend because you are not ready for a boyfriend. Someday when you are ready, God will provide the perfect husband. You are to wait on God and trust Him. You must never again allow anyone to pressure you into believing such nonsense.”

The apostle Paul in 1 Timothy 4:1 warned that the last days would bring a marked increase in false teaching. “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.”  In 2 Timothy 3:1-9 we read that the last days are described as “perilous times” because of the increasingly evil character of man and people who actively “resist the truth.”

Do I believe we are living in the last days?  I do now, especially since the above ruling.

  • Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.    Romans 1:32
  • It was the same in the days of Lot.  People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.  But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed.    Luke 17:28-30

About Kathleen

God delights in working through His people as they submit to Him. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone (Mark 16:15). No matter where we live on this planet, people are separated from God because of sin. We ALL need a Savior, and there’s only ONE. It brings me great joy to share Christ with the lost and lonely. Over the years I’ve learned a great deal while facilitating Bible studies. I’ve found myself on college and university campuses, the beach, the streets, the hospital, the jail and the juvenile facility for incarcerated teens sharing God’s message of love. I also serve as an online missionary with Global Media Outreach. I’ve seen countless lives transformed when people turn away from sin and turn to Jesus. The changes God makes are real and lasting. These are some of my experiences. NOTE: My stories have been altered, removing any and all identifying factors. Dear Kathleen,
What a profound work by the parents at the camp-out. We need more parents and coaches who will teach Biblical truth to our teens and college age children and to our grandchildren! Thank you for touching on a subject many people leave unsaid or untold.
I salute you for championing the Bible, the true Word of God on all ways of life.

Thank you Goldie! As we both know, before more parents and coaches can teach biblical truth, they have to know biblical truth. I appreciate you!

It is amazing and a little scary to see how things in the Bible (as predicted) are coming together. There is terrible persecution of Christians going on, there are wars and rumors of war, there are earthquakes everywhere (and they seem to have increased in their frequency over the last thirty years), there are more and more false doctrines popping up, and now this. I agree that we are definitely in the last days.
Hold strong as brothers and sisters, continue to encourage one another, continue reaching out to the people who do not know Him yet, and don’t lose heart. Jesus is coming soon.

  3. Liana says:

    Lord,
Please return the hearts of our lost, confused loved ones to the heart of the Father. Place the desire within their hearts to seek Thee and to know right from wrong. Help us to see them through Your eyes. In Jesus Name. Amen.
