Friends Sharing Jesus

Friend Number One:  She’s a grandmother and a widow.  Every Saturday at 11 AM the neighborhood kids gather in her living room to hear a Bible story while eating popcorn. They will sing some Jesus songs, learn a Bible memory verse and end their time playing active games in the front yard.

Friend Number Two:  On Thursday evenings her daughter and son-in-law host a couples’ Bible study in their home.  Some couples bring their children and my friend watches them. Wait! She does NOT simply watch them.  She teaches them from the Bible. They learn to look up Bible verses and sing worship songs together.

Friend Number Three:  The children come every Friday after school. They gather under a large shade tree in the front yard. She and her husband share with them stories from the Bible.  They sing worship songs to Jesus.  They learn to pray.

Friend Number Four & Five:  Once a week after school, this retired man and his wife help teach a Good News Bible Club in a public elementary school near their home.  Public school?  That’s right!  In 2001, the U.S. Supreme Court passed the Equal Access Law permitting Bible clubs to meet in U.S. public elementary schools. That is, after school hours.

Do you have children in your neighborhood?  Do they know the Lord? Can you help?

  • Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.    Matthew 19:14-15

About Kathleen

God delights in working through His people as they submit to Him. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone (Mark 16:15). No matter where we live on this planet, people are separated from God because of sin. We ALL need a Savior, and there’s only ONE. It brings me great joy to share Christ with the lost and lonely. Over the years I’ve learned a great deal while facilitating Bible studies. I’ve found myself on college and university campuses, the beach, the streets, the hospital, the jail and the juvenile facility for incarcerated teens sharing God’s message of love. I also serve as an online missionary with Global Media Outreach. I’ve seen countless lives transformed when people turn away from sin and turn to Jesus. The changes God makes are real and lasting. These are some of my experiences. NOTE: My stories have been altered, removing any and all identifying factors. This includes names and other particulars in order to protect confidentiality and anonymity.

    Hi Kathleen,

Love your grandma! I served with CEF (formally) for 18 years. I still have a Good News Club for the neighbourhood kids! A couple weeks ago, I made plantain chips in the kitchen while we looked over our Quiet Time for the week. Thank you for sharing this article. It reminds me of what lasts…for eternity.

this is great – the best blessing a person can be to another person – is to share Jesus Christ with them – that would make them friends in Jesus Christ!

How blessed are you to have these friends with such a beautiful heart for the Lord.
