What Do We Tell Our Children?

The morning after the election, disappointed moms went to Facebook asking the same question:  “What do we tell our children?”

If we are Christian moms who believe the God of the Bible, this is what we tell them:

  • We tell them a new president has been elected.  Whether we are happy or sad, the Bible tells us to pray for our leaders.  So we will pray for him just as we pray for all our leaders.  We will pray that God gives him wisdom, guidance and leads him in all his ways.      1 Timothy 2:1-2
  • We will thank God because the Bible tells us to thank God for all things.  That includes the good and the bad.  Ephesians 5:20,  1 Thessalonians 5:18
  • We will trust God and not man.  We trust God because trusting God is what the Christian life is all about.  Proverbs 3:5-6
  • We will not be angry or despondent.  We will “put on love” as it says in Colossians 3:14.  We will put on a happy face.  Proverbs 15:13-15
  • We will ask God to fill us with the Holy Spirit so we can experience His love, joy peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.   Galatians 5:22-23
  • We will remember the examples of great men such as King David who was a liar, an adulterer and a murderer.  Yet God used him to bring peace and honor to a nation.        1 Samuel 21:1-2,  2 Samuel 11

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”  Joshua 1:9

About Kathleen

God delights in working through His people as they submit to Him. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone (Mark 16:15). No matter where we live on this planet, people are separated from God because of sin. We ALL need a Savior, and there’s only ONE. It brings me great joy to share Christ with the lost and lonely. Over the years I’ve learned a great deal while facilitating Bible studies. I’ve found myself on college and university campuses, the beach, the streets, the hospital, the jail and the juvenile facility for incarcerated teens sharing God’s message of love. I also serve as an online missionary with Global Media Outreach. I’ve seen countless lives transformed when people turn away from sin and turn to Jesus. The changes God makes are real and lasting. These are some of my experiences. NOTE: My stories have been altered, removing any and all identifying factors. This includes names and other particulars in order to protect confidentiality and anonymity.
